Among Cherry Clouds feels like a quiet meeting between old friends.

One of my favorite details in this painting is the small bird, a familiar visitor from my earlier Murmuration series. Alongside it is an Airship whose shape seems almost inspired by a bird itself. Together, they appear to pause for a conversation, sharing the same sky as though they have known each other for years.

I love that Mika's haiku imagines their exchange as something wonderfully ordinary. High above the cherry blossoms, surrounded by an extraordinary landscape, they simply talk about the weather. There's something beautifully comforting in that idea. Even in remarkable places, life's simplest conversations are often the ones we remember most.

To me, this painting celebrates connection. It reminds us that no matter how extraordinary the journey, it is the companions we meet along the way, and the conversations we share—that make it memorable.
